cell phone

Good Morning, Falcons!

As you already know, the handbook has a strict "no cellphone" policy that we continue to support. In high school, cell phones have proven time and time again to be the source of distractions, truancy, and inappropriate social media use. Last year, our social studies department elected to use "cell phone parking lots" in their classrooms that resulted in success for students. Students who were in classrooms with cell phone parking lots had less time spent in the bathroom, more concentration on their work, and less discipline for cell phone violations.

As such, the high school is using cell phone parking lots campus wide to ensure we continue following the handbook. Beginning this week, teachers will be reviewing the following Powerpoint with students regarding cell phone parking lots:

As always, kids are also allowed to keep their cellphones "powered off" in their backpacks; however, any student choosing not to keep their cell phone stored and concealed is subject to confiscation and discipline.

The intent for the school day is to create a distraction free learning environment where kids socialize with each other rather than through a screen and have the ability to communicate appropriately with their teachers.

Parents, we thank you for your support and please help us in encouraging your child to keep their cell phone concealed in their backpack or in a cellphone parking lot. Thank you!
